There are countless publications that have many ideas for kitchens, from rustic to modern and everything in between, that are very helpful in starting the creative process of kitchen design. There are many things to consider when planning your dream kitchen. Function and Aesthetics are the two main drivers when designing. A good place to start planning for a new kitchen is to see what you would improve in your existing kitchen: a larger pantry; more windows; island/peninsula/breakfast nook; cabinet style; eat-in kitchen vs. dining room; more storage for pots and pans; counter material; more oven room; etc. Taking an inventory of your present kitchen and recalling what you have been impressed with in other kitchens helps get the creativity going.
The general layout of the kitchen will start with the design triangle, which relates to the positioning of the sink, stove, and refrigerator/freezer. These three appliances are integral in just about all food preparation and how they are positioned will determine the ease of movement within the kitchen. From there we can explore the seemingly endless possibilities available to you for your dream kitchen.

One of the main components of a kitchen is its cabinetry. The cost of cabinetry in a kitchen remodel or new home can easily hit 40% or more of the cost of the entire kitchen project. We are blessed to have many local cabinet craftsmen that produce very high quality custom cabinetry for a very affordable price. Many of their cabinet shops are family run and may only consist of a few craftsmen. You may be very pleasantly surprised to find out how affordable custom kitchen cabinetry really is. Martin Kitchen & Tile works with you, the customer, and these fine craftsmen to deliver a custom designed, custom-built kitchen.
There are three main concerns when choosing custom cabinetry; cost, quality, and time of delivery. We will check with several craftsmen to compare these attributes.
Cost:
Cost can vary greatly and is always a factor in determining what cabinets to buy.
Quality:
The quality of a craftsman’s cabinets can be seen in a variety of places. Our showroom has some cabinetry from local craftsmen; many cabinet shops also have showrooms or cabinets that have not yet been installed for another customer; or a kitchen that has been installed by that craftsman that is open to a potential customer seeing their work.
Time of Delivery:
The workload for any cabinet shop is changing constantly. They may be ready to start on a set of custom cabinets immediately or they could have a waiting list of several months, or longer. If you want to have your kitchen done by a certain date we will only work with those cabinet-makers that are available to build your kitchen in that time frame.
Backsplashes:
As our name implies we specialize in tile work, which in the kitchen often means the backsplash. This is a place that allows for total creativity, from the materials that are used to the designs that they can create. The possibilities are limitless so take the liberty and be an artist! Integrating metal, stone, wood, glass, etc. can change even the most boring kitchen into a conversation piece that will catch the eye and warrant a closer observation.
There are many resources available to get an idea of what type of backsplash would fit your personality. Local bookstores have books that cover kitchens from rustic to modern. Tile stores and kitchen showrooms have displays which often times incorporate a backsplash. Look under LINKS for some resources that include backsplash ideas.
Remodel:
Martin Kitchen & Tile delivers a complete kitchen remodel tearing out old cabinets and installing the new, to expanding the house to accommodate the new kitchen. We provide contracting for all the services needed in a kitchen remodel from electrical to finish carpentry. The process of remodeling is seldom eagerly anticipated by the homeowner, so we strive to make it as convenient and short as possible; with the outcome exceeding your expectations.
We install the cabinetry that we design/sell, for the most part. In most cases the cabinet-maker will install, but as a general rule they are more than happy to have the contractor do the installing.
Warranty:
We guarantee that we will deliver what was promised and paid for by you, the customer. For one year after the completion date of the project we warrantee our products are free from defect. This covers defect in product/service but does not cover damage caused after the project is completed.
